Tara-Lee Angell - Cellist

Irish cellist Tara-Lee Angell studied in Holland, Italy and England and holds honours degrees from The Royal Irish Academy of Music Dublin, Utrecht Conservatorium, Holland and Trinity College of Music London. Whilst studying in London Tara was awarded a place on the Mentorship scheme with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, Britten Pears Festival Orchestra and was a finalist in the London Symphony Orchestra String Experience. Her solo performances include appearances with The Hibernian Orchestra; Dublin Orchestral Players; Dublin, Symphony Orchestra, Royal Irish Academy of Music Chamber Orchestra; " I Suoni Bianchi " Chamber Orchestra.

Tara-Lee was a Music Scholar at Trinity College of Music London where her masters degree was generously supported by The Arts Council of Ireland, Artlinks Ireland and the City of Dublin Vocational Educational Committee. Tara-Lee is currently deputy cellist with The National Symphony Orchestra of Ireland; RTE Concert Orchestra and the Irish Film Orchestra. Tara-Lee has held the position of principal cellist with Utrecht Symphony Orchestra, Holland; Opera Orchestra di Teatro Mancinelli, Orvieto, Italy; Trinity College of Music Symphony Orchestra, London; Orchestra da Camera Di Scuola APM, Saluzzo; The Hibernian Orchestra and Royal Iirish Academy of Music Symphony and Chamber Orchestras.

Tara-Lee's passion for ethnic music combined with her western music classical background has led to a highly creative musical collaboration with Jordanian pianist Tala Tutunji. In their performances this dynamic duo epitomises musicality, vitality and a deep musical integrity. The Rhian Duo is building a reputation for the highest level of musical excellence both at home and abroad.

2010 engagements include an extensive tour of Ireland and The Middle East with The Rhian Duo, a nationwide tour of Ireland of Messaien's Quartet for the End of Time, and The Tarvangio Trio concert tour in Los Angeles in August. Please see agenda for concert details.

in September 2009 Tara-Lee established the Munster Music Academy in Killaloe, Co Clare. MMA is a centre of artistic excellence offering the highest levels of tuiton to students of all ages, abilities and aspirations. Tara-Lee is in demand as a cello teacher and chamber music coach in Ireland and abroad having previously taught in the Young European Strings School in Dublin and Royal Academy of Music Junior Department London. She is currently touring giving string workshops based on her recently completed book 'The Cello Motorway', an interactive teaching book and DVD focusing on cello bowing technique for beginners of all ages. In 2006 Tara-Lee founded MAMI - Music Artists Management Ireland®, a music agency promoting young artists in prestigious music venues throughout Ireland.
